WALKABOUT
WITH WARREN
I believe that I am part of the country.
This country doesn’t have boundaries but has ridgelines, rivers and different languages to give a sense of place.
A traditional belief is that we all come from the earth and will return to the earth, our mother. Country is in my blood, in my heart and I just love it.

Aboriginal Sites of the Hunter Valley by Warren Taggart
Warren’s first published book ‘Spirit of Place’ was officially launched on Thursday 27 July 2021 at Singleton Civil Centre.
Spirit of Place is a photographic record of Wonnarua traditional land depicting carvings, rock paintings and culturally significant sites of the Hunter Region. Every part of the traditional land of the Wonnarua people tells a story, and through the eyes of ancestors and elders we can see it, we can feel it. Our land is a part of us and always will be. Our ancestors have walked this land for thousands of years and still walk it today. This book is to share knowledge of our land and culture with all Australians.
The book contains over 200 pages of colour images taken around Yengo National Park, New South Wales.
Photography by Allan Chawner & Carol Carter.
